Drug offences often arise in one of two situations: i) you are found with drugs in your possession, either on your person, in your vehicle or at your home; or ii) you are 'caught' making hand-to-hand transactions with an undercover officer. The most common drug charges are possession, possession for the purpose of trafficking, and drug trafficking.
Drug offences are charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and are handled by Federal Prosecutors.
Drug charges are frequently reduced or thrown out as a result of the police's failure to comply with your Charter rights. Even if there is significant evidence against you, an experienced criminal defence lawyer can negotiate these charges and have some or all of the evidence deemed inadmissible.
If you have been accused of a drug possession or drug trafficking offence, contact one of our lawyers. Don't plead guilty.
