Katelyn Ure, articling student

Katelyn Ure is an Articling Student with Raymond Group Defence, working under the supervision of Managing Lawyer Tyler Raymond. She completed her legal education at Queen’s University Belfast and her National Committee on Accreditation examinations after returning to Canada. Katelyn also holds a Bachelor of Arts from MacEwan University, where she majored in Sociology in the Criminology Stream and minored in Political Science.

Katelyn developed a strong interest in criminal defence through her academic studies and her commitment to assisting individuals navigating difficult and unfamiliar legal processes. During her placement with the Law Centre of Northern Ireland, she reviewed complex medical evidence, conducted legal research, and prepared written submissions for disability appeals involving marginalized clients. This experience strengthened her ability to assess extensive records, identify the evidence that matters, and present a client’s position clearly and persuasively.

Before attending law school, Katelyn held a leadership position with the William Lutsky YMCA, where she coordinated its swimming programs and managed safety, staffing, and client concerns. She brings the same composure, practical judgment, and client-focused approach to her work at Raymond Group Defence.

Outside the office, Katelyn enjoys swimming, reading, sewing, and surfing.
